Incendie sans gravité à la centrale nucléaire de Fessenheim
Un incendie rapidement maîtrisé s'est déclaré hier dans la salle des machines de la centrale nucléaire de Fessenheim (Haut-Rhin)

Moins d’un mois après le sinistre qui s’est déclaré dans l’unité de Penly (Seine-Maritime), la doyenne des centrales françaises a à son tour été le théâtre d’un incendie.

Systématiquement mise en avant par les « pro-atome », la sûreté du parc nucléaire français a tout de même été chahutée ces dernières semaines. Dernier épisode en date : un départ de feu hier à la centrale de Fessenheim (Haut-Rhin), la plus ancienne de France, mise en service en 1977 et régulièrement objet de discussions houleuses et de manifestations depuis l’accident de Fukushima (Japon).

Rappelons en effet qu’elle a été construite sur une zone sismique et en bordure du Grand Canal d’Alsace. Venu sur place durant la campagne, Nicolas Sarkozy n’a toutefois eu de cesse de répéter que, sauf avis contraire de l’Autorité de sûreté nucléaire (ASN), il était hostile à l’arrêt de ses activités. Et le chef de l’État d’emboîter le pas des salariés (et de la plupart des villageois) en déplorant les motivations jugées strictement politiciennes des partisans du démantèlement de l’unité alsacienne, qui assure 70 % des besoins énergétiques de la région.

Parmi eux, des élus locaux français, allemands et suisses, les associations de défense de l’environnement, mais surtout EELV (Europe Écologie-Les Verts), qui souhaite une sortie française de l’atome suivant l’exemple allemand, et le Parti socialiste, lequel a opté de son côté pour une position « de compromis ». François Hollande s’est ainsi engagé à ne fermer que la centrale de Fessenheim durant son quinquennat, reprenant en l’occurrence à son compte les allégations du parti écologiste, des ONG et des élus en colère selon lesquels elle ne présente plus toutes les garanties nécessaires en termes de sécurité.

Nouvel incident à la centrale nucléaire de Fessenheim

Une centrale nucléaire régulièrement en proie à des dysfonctionnements

L’incendie qui s’est déclaré vers 8h30 hier matin dans la salle des machines (donc dans la partie non-nucléaire de l’installation) pourrait venir relancer la polémique, à six jours du débat de l’entre-deux-tours, ce même si l’opérateur EDF a indiqué dans un communiqué l’avoir « rapidement éteint à l’aide d’extincteurs ». L’électricien a également souligné que « ce départ de feu rapidement maîtrisé n’a pas fait de blessé et n’a eu aucune conséquence ni sur la sûreté, ni sur l’environnement, ni sur la production, qui est restée à 100 % ». « Dans le cadre du retour d’expérience, le site mènera une analyse précise des causes de ce dysfonctionnement », a-t-il ajouté, évoquant enfin la mobilisation des pompiers [NDLR : une trentaine est intervenue, de même que les gendarmes du peloton spécialisé de protection et ceux de la brigade de Bodelsheim (Haut-Rhin) ].

S’il n’a causé aucun dommage aux dires d’EDF, cet incident n’en vient pas moins s’ajouter à la longue liste des dysfonctionnements plus ou moins graves qui ont affecté la centrale nucléaire alsacienne ces dernières années. Il intervient par ailleurs un mois à peine après le redémarrage de l’unité de production numéro deux. La proximité temporelle des deux événements, bien qu’ils doivent être dissociés dans la mesure où ils ne concernent pas la même zone du site, pourrait bien être « exploitée » par les écologistes.

Vu les antécédents de la centrale, ce serait de bonne guerre.
